Inihain ng ilang mambabatas ang isang panukala upang taasan ang sweldo ng public social workers.
Sa House Bill 7573 na iniakda ni Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap at ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Edvic Yap, mula sa Salary Grade 10 o P23,176 at itataas sa Salary Grade 13 o P31, 320 ang sweldo ng public social workers.
Makikinabang dito ang mga rehistradong social worker sa gobyerno kasama na ang mga job order o contract of service.
Tinukoy ng mga mambabatas na paraan ito bilang pagkilala sa kanilang mahalagang papel sa pagtulong sa mga nangangailangan.
Sa kabila kasi anila ng Magna Carta for Public Social Workers Act ay nananatiling “least incentivized” ang mga social worker kumpara sa ibang empleyado ng gobyerno.
“Social workers are like shock absorbers. They help our countrymen in times of personal crisis, disasters and other emergency situations. Despite this, public social workers are the least appreciated as shown by the compensation they receive, which is grossly disproportionate to the tiring work and hours they put in as government frontliners,” ani Duterte. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
