Hinimok ni Representative Brian Raymund Yamsuan ang bagong talagang hepe ng Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) na si Fire Director Jesus Piedad Fernandez na tiyaking hindi lamang sapat na protective gear ang mailalaan sa mga bumbero, kundi maging bihasa rin sila sa advanced firefighting at emergency response techniques bilang bahagi ng modernisasyon ng ahensya.
Umaasa rin ang mambabatas na matutuldukan na ang matagal nang kakulangan ng mga firetruck sa bansa, sa pamamagitan ng patas at transparent na bidding process para sa mga supplier.
“As we welcome the appointment of BFP Director Jesus Fernandez, we are also optimistic that under his leadership, the agency would be able to boost its modernization efforts, starting with providing each city and municipality with modern firetrucks and our firefighters with adequate protective equipment,” sabi ni Yamsuan.
Paalala ng dating DILG assistant secretary, kinakailangan isabay sa modernisasyon ang tuloy-tuloy na advanced training ng mga BFP personnel upang higit silang maging handa hindi lamang sa pagsugpo ng sunog kundi pati na rin sa pagtugon sa mga sakuna at iba pang emergency.
Aniya, dapat maabot ng emergency response capabilities ng mga bumbero ang pandaigdigang pamantayan.
