Kaisa ang liderato ng Kamara sa naging pahayag ni Vice President Sara Duterte hinggil sa kahalagahan ng confidential funds.
Matatandaan na sa talumpati ni VP Sara sa isang event ng PNP sa Butuan, sinabi nito na kung sino man ang kokontra sa confidential funds ay kumukontra sa kapayapaan at kalaban ng bayan.
Sa isang press conference, sinabi ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez na tama ang Bise Presidente sa pagsabi na ang confidential fund ay para sa pagsusulong ng kapayapaan at seguridad.
“We are all for the confidential funds and we are all for peace and security. We are all for that. We are in total agreement that the utilization of confidential intelligence funds is to promote peace and security,” sabi ni Romualdez.
Kaya nga aniya nagdesisyon ang Kamara na busisiin ang lahat ng confidential at intelligence fund ng civilian agencies at ilaan ito sa mga ahensya na mas epektibong magagamit ang pondo sa pagpapatupad ng kanilang mandato na panatilihin ang peace and order sa bansa.
“We are one with the Vice President in having to make sure that the confidential and intelligence funds are always part of the equation and of course best left with the agencies and departments that are most and best suited,” dagdag pa ng House leader.
Ito rin aniya ang dahilan kung bakit nais nilang palakasin ang mga ahensya na nagbabantay sa West Philippine Sea.
Katunayan, isa rin sa nais nilang dagdagan ng pondo ay ang pagsasaayos ng pasilidad sa Pagasa Island.
“That’s why we were in Pag-asa (Island) today [October5] and looking at other ways how to make sure that peace and security of the country as a whole is protected. We know that the West Philippine Sea has become a very, very top issue of the day… we would like to make sure that the confidential and intelligence funds are most properly utilized by agencies and departments that are best suited particularly in these aspects of deploying the proper resources and personnel,” ayon pa kay Speaker Romualdez. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
