Nanawagan si Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno sa mga local public official na palakasin ang kanilang papel sa nation building.

Ito ang mensahe ni Diokno sa harap ng 2023 League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) General Assembly na may temang β€œStrengthening Municipal Capabilities Around Autonomy and Fostering Resiliency.”

Ayon kay Diokno, bilang mga frontline service providers, ang performances ng mga local executives at legislators ay babagsak lamang sa pagitan ng regional development at regional decay.

Mensahe ng kalihim sa mga miembro mg LMP, itaas ang kanilang hangarin na makamit ang  local autonomy, resiliency, at mas pinalawak na synergy ng local at national government.

Binigyang-diin din ng Finance chief na gamitin ang Mandanas-Garcia ruling ng  Supreme Court  para makuha ng mga munisipalidad ang fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

Hinikayat din ni Diokno ang local authorities na paghusayin ang kanilang real propert tax collection at isulong ang digitalization.  | ulat ni Melany Valdoz-Reyes
