Hinimok ni House Ways and Means Committee Chair Joey Salceda ang Department of Tourism (DOT) na aralin ang pag-amyenda sa Republic Act 9593 o Tourism Act.

Ito’y kasunod ng pag-apruba ng Ways and Means Committee sa panukalang VAT Refund program para sa foreign tourists.

Hiling ni Salceda kay Tourism Undersecretary Shireen Gail Pamintuan, ikonsidera ang pag-amyenda sa batas upang mabigyan din ng promotional incentives ang domestic tourists.

Partikular na aniya dito ang MICES o yung meetings, incentives, conferences at exhibitions sector.

β€œI understand that it is the MICES sector is the bulk tourism sector of the country. So, when you incentivize the MICES sector, you incentivize tourists wholesale. I am requesting the DOT to look into a more expansive definition of incentives for the domestic tourism sector,” saad ni Salceda.
