Naglaan ang Marcos Administration ng P1.7 bilyong pondo para sa modernization program ng Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) para sa patuloy na pagpapaigting ng fire service ng Pilipinas.
Ayon kay Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, ang pondong ito ay gagamitin sa pagbili ng firetrucks, personal protective equipment, at emergency at rescue equipment ng BFP.
Mula aniya sa kabuuang halaga na ito, P1 billion ay huhugutin mula sa 80% ng buwis, fees, at fines na nakulekta alinsunod sa Fire Code of the Philippines.
Ang hakbang na ito, ayon sa kalihim, ay bilang pagkilala na rin sa mahalagang papel na ginagampanan ng mga bumbero, at sa pagliligtas ng buhay sa panahon ng kalamidad at emergency.
“As we observe Fire Prevention month, allow us to highlight the special provision given by the Marcos Jr. administration to support the modernization of our BFP. We have provided a total of P1.7 billion to help equip our firefighters.
