Nagsagawa ng surprise inspection ang mga opisyal ng Department of Agriculture (DA) sa New Marulas Public Market sa Valenzuela City upang tingnan kung nasusunod ang maximum suggested retail price (MSRP) ng imported rice at local pork.

Pinangunahan ni Agriculture Assistant Secretary Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra ang inspeksyon kasunod ng ulat ukol bigas na may tatak na “President” na ibinebenta sa P62 kada kilo, ito ay mas mataas ng P13 sa MSRP na P49 kada kilo para sa imported rice.

Natuklasan din na ang presyo ng baboy sa nasabing palengke ay mas mataas sa itinakdang MSRP kung saa ang liempo ay ibinebenta sa P420 kada kilo na dapat ay P380 kada kilo, at ang kasim at pigue ay nasa P370-380 kada kilo na dapat P360 kada kilo.
