Mga mangingisda, nangunguna sa listahan ng mga Filipino seafarer na inabandona ng kanilang manning agency, ayon sa DMW

Umabot sa mahigit 800 Filipino seafarer ang iniwan ng kani-kanilang mga manning agency simula 2018 hangang 2024.

Sa pulong balitaan sa tanggapan ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) sa Mandaluyong City, iniulat ni Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac na sa bilang na ito, 576 ay mga tripulante ng mga fishing vessel.

Ayon kay Cacdac, hindi kailangan pisikal para maituring na inabandona ng kanilang manning agency ang mga seafarer. Maituturing din na iniwan kapag hindi nakapagbigay ng sahod sa loob ng dalawang buwan.

Paglilinaw naman ng kalihim na natulungan ng ahensya ang nasabing bilang ng mga inabandong tripulante.

Ito ang pagtitiyak ni Cacdac matapos lumabas sa mga ulat na dumarami ang mga tripulanteng Pilipino na iniiwan ng kanilang manning agency dahil ito umano ay mga nabangkarote.

Nagbabala naman ang DMW na maaaring ma-blacklist ang mga manning agency na masasangkot sa pag-abandona ng mga Filipino seafarer gaya ng nangyari sa Buwan Tala Agency na hindi magbayad ng sahod sa 300 seafarers noong nakaraang taon. | ulat ni Diane Lear
