Hihintayin ng Kamara hanggang bukas ng alas-4:00 ng hapon si Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo Teves para umuwi ng Pilipinas at personal na humarap sa House Committee on Ethics and Privileges.

Ayon kay COOP-NATCO Party-list Rep. Felimon Espares, chair ng komite, nagdesisyon ang mga miyembro ng Ethics Committee na dapat ay pisikal na dumalo sa kanilang pagdinig ang kasamahang mambabatas.

“We extend[ed] our time to let our colleague respond within 24 hours na umuwi dito. But kung hindi sya makapag-appear personally in our committee, so the committee will really have its decision, the appropriate sanction. So probably by tomorrow 4 or 5 PM we will have our committee meetings to deal with, if our colleague, Congressman Arnie Teves Jr., will not physically appear in our committee.” ani Espares.

Katunayan, sa kabila ng unang pahayag ng legal counsel ni Teves na dadalo ito sa hearing ng komite via teleconferencing ay hindi ito pinahintulutan.

“Actually, hindi rin pinayagan natin at the same time kailangan talaga mag-appear siya in person. Wala siya sa teleconference dahil ‘yon ang napagdecide ng ating [komite]. Meaning we need him to report here in the House.” dagdag ng mambabatas.

Kung matatandaan, binigyan ng komite si Teves ng 5 araw upang ipaliwanag ang pagliban sa Kamara sa kabila ng napaso na nitong travel authority.

Hindi rin naman napagbigyan ang hiling nitong dalawang buwang extension para sa leave of absence.

“Nagpadala kami ng sulat noong March 15, to respond on our letter at the same time to appear before this committee’s March 20 hearing buthten so far hindi pa rin siya nag-appear so we give another chance of 24 hours for him to really personally appear in our committee.” ayon sa Committee chair.

Sa ngayon ay wala pa ring ideya ang komite kung nasaang bansa si Teves.

Pero pagtitiyak ni Espares na naipaabot ng kanilang komite sa Negros Oriental solon ang kanilang panawagan.

Sakali namang dumating si Teves ay hindi na kakailanganin pa ng disciplinary action para dito.
