Nagpadala ng delegasyon ang Pilipinas sa 67th session ng United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) sa New York, na tatagal hanggang March 17.
“The United Nations Observance of IWD, under the theme βDigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equalityβ, recognizes and celebrates women and girls championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.” β Secretary Garafil.
Ayon kay Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, ang hakbang na ito ay bilang pagkilala sa papel ng mga kababaihan sa lipunan.
Ang delegasyon ay pamumunuan ni Permanent Representative, Philippine Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Antonio Lagdameo.
“The delegationβs primary representatives include Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Cherbett Karen Maralit, and Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative, Philippine Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, Ariel Rodelas PeΓ±aranda.” β Secretary Garafil
Sa observance na ito, tatalakayin ang impact ng digital gender gap sa lumalawak na economic at social inequalities.
Habang binibigyang diin ang kahalagahan ng pagprotekta sa karapatan ng mga kababaihan, partikular sa digital spaces at pagtugon sa ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.
