Naghahanda na ang Quezon City Local Government para sa muling pakikiisa nito sa Earth Hour sa darating na March 25.

Ang earth hour ay isang global environmental movement, kung saan isinusulong ang sabayang pagpatay ng non-essential lights sa loob ng isang oras bilang pagpapakita ng pagmamalasakit sa kalikasan.

Sa pagbabalik sa in-person ng mga aktibidad para sa Earth Hour, muling napiling host city ng World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) dito sa bansa ang Quezon City.

Gaganapin ito sa Quezon Memorial Circle, kung saan ilan sa mga nakalinyang aktibidad ang sustainability fair at virtual run.

Pagsapit naman ng eksaktong alas-8:30 ng gabi sa March 25 ay isasagawa ang switch-off activity, kung saan papatayin ang ilaw sa pylon ng Quezon Memorial Circle at iba pang city government-run buildings.

Hinihikayat din ang mga business owner sa lungsod at mga mamamayan na magpatay ng non-essential lights.

Ayon naman kay QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, sa pangunguna ng lungsod sa Earth hour ay nais nitong mabigyang pansin ng bawat isa ang lumalala nang climate change at pangangailan na kumilos para matugunan ang epekto nito.

Sa panig ng LGU, iba’t ibang inisyatibo na rin aniya ang itinutulak bilang pagpapahalaga sa kalikasan kabilang ang pagkakaroon ng climate positive action na bahagi ng agenda ng pamahalaang lungsod. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
