Walang dapat ikabahala ang publiko sa suplay ng baboy sa Central Visayas sa kabila ng pagpositibo sa African Swine Fever (ASF) sa Carcar City.

Sinabi ni Agriculture Assistant Secretary Rex Estoperes, hindi naman ganun karami ang mga infected na baboy kung kayat walang dapat ikabahala sa suplay nito.

Sa 149 na kinunan ng blood samples, 58 lamang ang nagpositibo sa ASF.

Umaapela naman ang Department of Agriculture (DA) sa publiko, na iwasan muna ang pagbiyahe ng mga baboy papasok at palabas sa Carcar City Cebu, upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng virus.

Pinahihigpitan na rin ng DA sa Bureau of Quarantine ang pagbabantay sa mga pantalan, para pigilan ang pagpasok ng mga processed meat na maaaring magdala ng virus.

Ang Bureau of Animal Industry at Provincial Veterinary Office ng Cebu ay nagbigay naman ng technical at logistic support sa Carcar City, upang mabilis na pigilan ang paglawak ng infected areas. | ulat ni Michael Rogas
