“Agri-scholarship” para sa dependents ng mga magsasaka, ipinapanukala

Itinutulak ng ilang mambabatas ang pagbibigay ng scholarship sa mga kwalipikadong dependent ng indigent farmers.

Sa ilalim ng House Bill 7572 nina Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte, Benguet Representative Eric Yap at ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Edvic Yap, bibigyan ng libreng tuition fee at iba pang subsidiya ang mga anak o iba pang dependent ng indigent na magsasaka na makakapasa sa state universities and colleges (SUCs) at local universities and colleges (LUCs), para sa kursong agriculture at kahalintulad na kurso.

Kailangan naman na ang magsasaka ay kabilang sa registry of farmers ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na ang pangunahing ikinabubuhay ay pagtatanim, crop production, livestock o poultry farming.

Umaasa ang mga mambabatas, na sa paraang ito ay mahikayat ang mga mas maraming kabataang Pilipino na pumasok sa sektor ng agrikultura at mapalago ang agricultural research ng bansa.

“Providing farmers’ children the educational support they need will encourage them to pursue agriculture and other related courses. Apart from encouraging the youth to consider entering the [agriculture sector], the said measure will also uplift and motivate agricultural research that it vital in the sector’s quest for development” saad sa panukala.

Pagtutulungan ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) at DA ang pagpapatupad sa scholarship program.
