Nanindigan si House Committee on Ethics Senior Vice-Chair Ria Vergara na hindi inabuso ng komite ang kapangyarihan nito matapos irekomenda ang pagsuspindi kay Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo ‘Arnie’ Teves Jr.
Tugon ito ng mambabatas sa tanong ng media sakaling iakyat ang usapin ng suspensyon ni Teves sa Supreme Court.
Aniya, mandato ng komite na aralin at magrekomenda ng sanction sa isang miyembro ng Mataas na Kapulungan kung kinakailangan.
Giit pa ng mambabatas, mismong ang plenaryo ng Kamara ay ipinagtibay ang kanilang rekomendasyon na 60-day suspension matapos 292 na mambabatas ang bumoto pabor dito.
“As a member of the Committee on Ethics as well as being present in all committee hearings I’m confident that we did not transgressed or we did not overstepped our mandate…There was a 292 majority, 0 abstentions, 0 negative that upheld the findings of the committee so I’m confident that the committee did it’s job and I think the Supreme Court will look at the records and will find that we did not transgress any rules,” ani Vergara.
