Pagdulog sa Kongreso, ikinukunsidera ng pamahalaan para mapahintulutan na makapagpatayo ng power plant

Hindi isinasantabi ng Department of Energy (DOE) na lumapit sa Kongreso upang makapagpasa ng batas para mapahintulutan ang gobyerno na makapagpatayo ng power plant.

Ito ang sinabi sa Laging Handa ni Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan kasunod na rin ng naging pahayag ni DOE Chief Jericho Petilla na dapat magtayo ng 500-megawatt power plants na gagamitin tuwing may shortage ng kuryente.

Paliwanag ni Marasigan, hindi kasi binibigyang karapatan ang pamahalaan sa
Electric Power Industry Reform Act para magtayo ng panibagong planta.

Base aniya sa EPIRA Law, dapat ay private sector ang magtayo ng mga planta at hindi ang nasa government sector.

Ganunpaman, kung kinakailangang pumunta aniya ng Kongreso para magpasa ng batas ukol sa pagtatayo ng planta for strategic reserve ng pamahalaan ay maaari nilang gawin. | ulat ni Alvin Baltazar
