Reporma sa Military and Uniformed Personnel pension system, isinusulong ng DOF

Isinusulong ng Department of Finance (DOF) ang reporma sa Military and Uniformed Personnel (MUP) pension system para gawin itong mas sustainable at maiwasan ang potential fiscal crisis.

Ayon kay Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno, suportado ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang naturang hakbang kaya kabilang ito sa kanyang inaprubahan sa cabinet-level meeting.

Paliwanag ni Diokno, sa ngayon fully funded ng national government ang pension ng lahat ng mga retirees mula sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), at  Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

Halimbawa aniya, napupunta ang malaking bahagi ng   annual budget allocation ng AFP sa pension ng mga retirees kumpara sa  kasalukuyang maintenance and operating expenditures ng institution.

Diin ng kalihim, kung magpapatuloy ito maaring magkaroon ng fiscal collapse.

Aniya, ang average monthly pension ng mga MUPs ay mas mataas ng siyam na beses ng pension na ipinagkakaloob ng SSS at tatlong beses na mataas sa GSIS.  | ulat ni Melany Valdoz Reyes
