Bigo ang tigil-pasada ng transport groups na tutol sa PUV modernization program, na paralisahin ang operasyon ng pampublikong sasakyan lalo na sa National Capital Region (NCR) at mga kalapit nitong lugar.
“The strike initiated by some transport groups has failed to disrupt the normal public transport operations particularly in Metro Manila and nearby areas, with the government efficiently responding to serve the commuting public affected by the disturbance on Monday.” ayon kay Secretary Garafil.
Ito ayon kay Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Velicaria – Garafil ay dahil nakapaghanda ang gobyerno sa pagtugon sa posibleng pangangailangan sa masasakyan ng commuters.
“The timely issuances by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) via social media on continuous access to education utilizing various platforms by students lessened the use of PUJs, while free rides provided by the local governments and other government agencies cushioned the effect of the transport strike in the Calabarzon.” saad ni Secretary Garafil.
Sinabi ng kalihim na base sa report ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sa MalacaΓ±ang, ilang ruta lamang ang naapektuhan ng tigil-pasada ng hindi lalampas sa 500 mga nakilahok sa protesta.
Ayon kay Secretary Garafil, bagamaβt may mga ulat ng pananakot laban sa ilang mga tsuper na hindi sumali sa protesta, maagap naman itong narespondehan ng mga pulis.
Samantala, sa iba pang ulat na natanggap ng Palasyo, hanggang tanghali ay normal ang operasyon ng EDSA Busway Carousel at sapat ang mga bus na bumiyahe.
