Bagong Basilan-Cotabato RoRo Service, pinasinayaan

Matagumpay na nailunsad ang bagong Basilan-Cotabato Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) Sevice sa pamamagitan ng suporta ng United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Ang proyekto na inilunsad nitong Martes ng BARMM Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC), sa pakikipagtulungan ng Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) at USAID, ay inaasahang magpapalago sa ekonomiya ng rehiyon sa pamamagitan ng pag-uugnay ng Polloc Port sa Parang, Maguindanao at Lamitan, Basilan.

Ang proyekto ay magpapaikli ng anim na oras sa biyahe sa pagitan ng Cotabato at Zamboanga at makakabawas ng hanggang 30 porsyento sa gastos sa transportasyon.

Ayon sa US Embassy, ang tulong ng USAID ay sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Regulatory Reform Support Program for National Development (RESPOND) project na ipinatutupad ng University of the Philippines Public Administration Research and Extension Services Foundation.

Dito’y nagbigay sila ng pagsasanay sa BARMM officials at staff tungkol sa infrastructure development sa rehiyon.

Ayon kay USAID Philippines Mission Director Ryan Washburn, ang pagpapalawak ng maritime trade routes at intermodal transport systems ay magbubukas ng mga bagong oportunidad sa kalakalan, pamumuhunan, at turismo sa rehiyon. | ulat ni Leo Sarne
