Foreign language studies, ipinasasama sa basic education curriculum

Isinusulong ni House Minority Leader at 4Ps Party-list Rep. Marcelino Libanan ang pagtuturo ng foreign language sa basic education.

Sa House Resolution 910 ng kinatawan, hinihimok nito ang Department of Education (DepEd) na isama sa basic education curriculum ang iba pang lengguwahe maliban sa Ingles.

Sa gitna na rin ito ng isinasagawang pagrepaso ng kagawaran sa K-12 curriculum.

Punto ni Libanan, inspirasyon niya sa pagsusulong ng naturang hakbang ang ating Pambansang Bayani na si Jose Rizal na inaral ang iba’t ibang mga lengguwahe.

“Our school system by tradition has been teaching Filipino children to emulate and aspire to be like Rizal. We might as well encourage them to study foreign languages, just like Rizal,” ani Libanan.

Paalala pa ng kinatawan, malaki ang maitutulong ng pagiging multi-lingual ng mga mag-aaral lalo at malaki ang demand ngayon sa mga empleyado na mayroong foreign language skills.
