Party-list solon, inalmahan ang banta ng Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines sa OFWs sa Taiwan

Hindi nagustuhan ni Assistant Minority Leader at Gabriela Party-list Representative Arlene Brosas ang naging pahayag kamakailan ni Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian sa overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sa Taiwan.

Ayon kay Brosas, sumobra masyado ang embahador nang bantaan nito ang nasa higit 100,000 OFWs sa Taiwan para ma-pressure ang Pilipinas na katigan ang One China policy.

Hindi aniya katanggap-tanggap na isangkalan ang OFW para lamang sumunod ang Pilipinas sa kanilang pagtutol sa kalayaan ng Taiwan.

“Ambassador Huang could have an entire day opposing Taiwan’s independence. But to tell Manila to ‘unequivocally oppose’ such assertion of independence and dangle the fate of our OFWs – that is simply unacceptable…. He clearly crossed the line, and Malacanang should recommend that he must be immediately recalled,” ani Brosas.

Sa naging pahayag ng Chinese Ambassador, sinabi nito na posibleng malagay sa alanganin ang seguridad ng mga OFW sa Taiwan dahil sa military ties ng Pilipinas sa Amerika.

Nakatakda namang kausapin ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang embahador, ngunit naniniwala siya na posibleng ‘lost in translation’ lamang ang pahayag ng opisyal.
