Higit ₱1.5-M halaga ng smuggled fishery products, nasabat ng DA sa Navotas

Aabot sa ₱1.5 milyong halaga ng puslit na fishery products ang nasamsam ng Department of Agriculture – Office of the Assistant Secretary for Inspectorate and Enforcement (DA IE) sa raid na ikinasa nito sa isang storage facility sa Navotas City.

Nakumpiska sa naturang raid ang daan-daang mga karton ng golden pompano, frozen Pangasius fillet, deep sea golden pomfret, frozen round scad, salmon head, at salmon belly.

Inaresto rin ang tatlong kawani ng pinuntiryang storage na Icy Point Cold Storage Processing Corporation sa North Bay Blvd., Navotas.

Nag-ugat ang naturang raid sa impormasyong natanggap ng kagawaran sa umano’y iligal na bentahan ng frozen golden pompano sa lugar, at dito nakumpirma na walang Certificate of Necessity o Sanitary at Phytosanitary Import Clearance at wala ring clearance mula sa Food Safety Regulatory Agency ang mga produkto.

Ayon kay DA Assistant Secretary James Layug, malinaw na paglabag ito sa Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act, Food Safety Act of 2013 (R.A. 10611), at BFAR FAO 195.

Dahil dito, desidido aniya ang DA na ipasara ang mga nadiskubreng warehouse at panagutin ang mga may-ari nito dahil sa pagbebenta ng smuggled agri-fishery commodities.
