Handang tumugon ang Kamara sa hamon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na pagtibayin pa ang relasyon ng Pilipinas at US ayon kay House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Kasunod ito ng naging pulong ng pangulo kasama ang miyembro ng US Senate sa pangunguna ni Sen. Robert Menendez, chairman ng US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Dito, sinabi ng chief executive na ang ugnayan ng Amerika at Pilipinas ay hindi lamang sa executive branch ngunit dapat ay kasama rin ang lehislatura.
Ayon kay Romualdez, nakahanda ang Kamara na ipagpatuloy ang aktibong kooperasyon sa pagitan ng kanilang US legislative counterpart.
“We, at the House of Representatives, welcome the suggestion of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. that efforts to boost the long-standing bond of friendship between the Philippines and the United States should also involve the respective Legislative branches of the two countries. We are ready to take up that challenge and we look forward to more engagements with our counterparts in the United States in the future,” ani Romualdez.
Aminado ang House leader na bagamat balwarte ng ehekutibo ang foreign relations, malaking bagay ang relasyon ng mambabatas ng dalawang bansa sa pagbuo ng legal frameworks na gagabay sa kanilang bilateral relations.
“While the conduct of foreign relations is largely the domain of the Executive, engagements between the lawmakers of both countries would be of immense value in, for instance, harmonizing the legal framework governing their bilateral relations,” dagdag ng House leader.
