Asahan na sa susunod na quarter ng taon, agad na maisasakatuparan ang libreng internet connectivity para sa unang 46 na tourism sites mula sa 94 na lugar na lalagayan ng internet connection ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Pahayag ito ni DICT Secretary Ivan Uy, kasunod ng pag-apruba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa National Tourism Development Plan 2023-2028, kung saan nakapaloob ang mga hakbang at programa ng bansa para sa pagpapalakas ng tourism sector sa ilalim ng Marcos Jr. Administration.
Sa press briefing sa Malacañan, sinabi ng kalihim na sa unang bahagi ng proyekto, kasama sa mga malalagyan ng internat connection ang mga tourism spot sa Baguio, Palawan, Boracay, Cebu, at iba pa.
Mahalaga aniya ang paglalagay ng internet connection lalo at karamihan sa mga dumadayo sa Pilipinas ay vloggers.
Kailangan aniyang mabigyang ng internet access ang mga ito, lalo’t magsisilbi rin sila bilang marketing tool para sa tourism sector ng bansa.
“So while they’re there, enjoying those experience, they can actually be also our marketing tool in propagating the message through them, how they’re having fun in the Philippines and how they are enjoying the Philippine experience which will be very unique from many other destinations.” — Secretary Uy
Ayon kay Secretary Uy, sa pagtatapos ng taon magiging full coverage na ang internet connection sa 94 na tourism sites na ito.
“We signed the MOA I think three months ago. Yes, three months ago, so in six months we will be able to deploy the first half. So, second half most likely by end of the year we’ll have the full 100% coverage.” — Secretary Uy. | ulat ni Racquel Bayan
