Nananawagan si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa mga miyembro ng European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) at EU- ASEAN Business Council (EU-ACB) na aktibong suportahan ang pagpapanumbalik ng negosasyon ng bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at European Union (EU).
“I take this opportunity to call upon our friends from the EU ABC and the ECCP to actively advocate for the resumption of negotiations for this purpose as well as to strive for fair treatment and more beneficial reciprocity,” ani Pangulong Marcos.
Ayon sa Pangulo, win-win startegy ito para sa kapwa economic goals ng magkabilang panig.
“I believe that we can all agree that the timing and conditions are now quite ripe for us to solidify the long-standing and historically beneficial trade relations: through a bilateral Philippine-EU Free Trade Agreement,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.
Aniya, malaki ang magagawa ng suporta ng mga ito, para sa isang positibong konklusyon ng kasunduan.
Sa oras na maisakatuparan ito, ayon sa Pangulo, magsisilbi itong tanda ng lahat ng pinag-igting na effort ng Pilipinas at EU, para sa mga susunod pang taon.
“As credible voices of the European business community in the Philippines and the region, the EU ABC and ECCP can help move this thing forward all the way for a favorable conclusion. And if and when that happens, it could very well be the capstone of all efforts to strength PH-EU relations over the course of the next decades,” paliwanag pa ng Pangulong Marcos.
Ang Gala Dinner na dinaluhan ng Pangulo ay para sa ginanap na 2023 European – Philippine Business Dialogue, na taunang ginagawa.
Dinadaluhan ito ng mga delegado mula sa European at ASEAN member states, at business executives sa bansa, kung saan isinusulong ang interes ng European Chamber of Commerce sa Pilipinas, gayundin ang interes ng bansa sa pakikipagbalikatan sa European businessmen.
Magandang oportunidad itong forum o dialogue para sa Pilipinas, dahil dito, pinag-igting o binibigyang diin ang pagiging competitive investment destination ng bansa, lalo’t kinikilala na ang Pilipinas bilang isa sa bright spots sa Asya.
Ginamit ng Pangulo ang pagkakataon, upang muling ibida sa harap ng international community ang patuloy na yumayabong na ekonomiya ng bansa.
“The Philippines shows healthy signs of recovery from the economic downturn brought about by the pandemic. We are very proud to have registered a 7.6% GDP growth rate in 2022. It signifies that there is a highly resilient sector of very strong economic activity in the country.
