Tuluyan nang nakalusot sa Kamara ang panukalang batas na magtatatag ng isang Level 3 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) Hospital.
Ito ay matapos bumoto ang 255 na mambabatas pabor sa House Bill 8325, na bubuo sa ospital na mayroong medical at diagnostic center, at pangangasiwaan ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
Ang naturang ospital ang magsisilbing pangunahig referral facility para sa mga na-repatriate na OFW na nangangailangan ng tulong medikal, kanilang dependents, at kung kakailanganin ay maaaring buksan sa publiko.
Maaari rin dito magpa pre-employment medical examination ng mga OFW.
Ang OFW Hospital ay isasama sa provincial at inter-regional healthcare provider networks alinsunod sa Universal Health Care Act.
Ang mga medical specialist sa ibang ospital ng gobyerno gaya ng Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Children’s Hospital, at Philippine General Hospital ay hinihimok naman na mag-clinic sa OFWH.
Bubuo rin ng Isang joint Congressional Oversight Committee, na pamumunuan ng chairperson ng Senate Committee on Health and Demography at House Committee on Health upang bantayan ang pagpapatupad ng panukala.
Ayon kay House Speaker Martin Romualdez, ang pagpapatibay sa panukala ay pagpapakita ng suporta at commitment ng Kongreso, na isulong ang kapakanan at proteksyon ng mga OFW.
“This bill is a proof of our continuous support and commitment to the welfare and protection of our OFWs. The creation of this specialty hospital that will be open to the public but will primarily serve our OFWs and their dependents will ensure that they will get the quality, timely and efficient health care services that they deserve,” saad ni Romualdez.
