Lalo lamang napagtibay ng muling pagkikita ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at US Vice-President Kamala Harris ang nauna nang mga napagkasunduan ng dalawang opisyal nang bumisita ang bise presidente ng Amerika sa Pilipinas noong nakaraang taon.
Ito ang tinuran ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez matapos ang naging pulong sa pagitan ni PBBM at US VP Harris.
Para sa House leader, malaking bagay na maging ang bise presidente ng Estados Unidos ay suportado ang pagpapalakas ng ugnayan ng Pilipinas at US kung saan mga Pilipino ang makakabenepisyo.
“It is heartening to note that during the meeting over coffee between President Marcos and VP Harris, the two officials reiterated their commitment to secure and advance the mutually beneficial initiatives she announced when she visited the Philippines. It boosts our hope and confidence that effort to bolster the time-tested ties between the US and the Philippines would ultimately benefit the Filipino people in terms of increased foreign investments that would generate more jobs, livelihood as well as business opportunities for our people,” saad ni Romualdez.
Kabilang dito ang inisyatiba at dayalogo sa larangan ng enerhiya.
Ayon sa House leader mahalaga na mapababa ang presyo ng kuryente at matiyak ang stable suplay nito upang makaakit ng mga mamumuhunan sa bansa.
“The availability of cheap and reliable supply of electricity is indispensable in our effort to attract investments that would create more jobs and livelihood opportunities for our people and so he is exploring all viable alternatives, including renewables and nuclear energy, to achieve this ends.” ayon sa House Speaker.
Ipinagpasalamat din ng Leyte 1st district solon ang muling pagtiyak ng US VP na ‘ironclad’ ang commitment nito na depensahan ang Pilipinas mula sa anumang armed attack salig sa Mutual Defense Treaty.
