Nakapili na si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ng kalihim ng Department of Health (DOH) sa katauhan ni Dr. Ted Herbosa.
Ayon kay PCO Secretary Cheloy Velicaria – Garafil si Herbosa ay mayroong hitik na karanasan at kaalaman sa healthcare system, public health, hospital administration, emergency at disaster medicine.
Dati na rin aniya itong nagsilbi bilang Executive Vice President ng University of the Philippines System, naglingkod na rin bilang Professor in Emergency Department sa Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at sa National University of Malaysia.
“He has also been involved in numerous international roles and collaborations, including serving on the Board of Directors for the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM), Medical Consultant/Adviser for the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in Melbourne, Australia, and Regional Education Coordinator for the HOPE Program (Hospital Preparedness and Emergencies) at John Hopkins University Center for International Emergencies, Disasters, and Refugee Studies (CIEDRS).” —Sec Garafil.
Sa gitna naman aniya ng hamon noong kasagsagan ng COVID-19 pandemic, si Herbosa ay nagsilbi bilang Special Adviser to the National Task Force Against Covid-19, kung saan nagbibigay ito ng expert guidance at tumutulong sa pagbuo ng mga istratehiya na magpapababa sa impact ng virus.
“He also served as an international consultant in several countries, including Palau, Maldives, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Tunisia, and Thailand, making notable contributions to emergency medicine and trauma care. Ayon kay Secretary Garafil, malawak ang karanasan ni Teodoro sa private at public sector.
“Teodoro is a graduate of Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Major in Financial Institutions from De La Salle University – Manila. Furthermore, he completed his law degree and graduated at the top of his class at the University of the Philippines. He achieved the top rank in the 1989 Philippine Bar Examinations. He furthered his legal education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Law from Harvard University.” —Sec Garafil.
Nagsilbi na ito bilang miyembro ng Kongreso, naging Secretary of Defense na rin sa ilalim ng Macapagal-Arroyo Administration, at dati nang nag-lingkod bilang chair ng National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC).
“Throughout his career, Teodoro has received numerous accolades for his leadership and academic excellence. Notably, he was recognized as a Leadership Awardee and Seminar Academic Excellence Awardee during his time at the Air Command and Staff College, Air Education and Training Command Philippine Air Force Command and Staff Course in 2001.
