Nakikiisa si Iloilo 5th District Representative at House Committee on National Defense and Security Chair Raul ‘Boboy’ Tupas sa pagpapaabot ng pagbati sa bagong talagang Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Atty. Gilbert ‘Gibo’ Teodoro Jr.
Ayon sa kinatawan, kumpiyansa siya sa kakayanan at lawak ng kaalaman ni Teodoro para pamunuan ang DND.
Kasabay nito ay pinasalamatan din ni Tupas si Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr. sa pagsisilbi nito bilang Officer-in-Charge ng kagawaran.
“I commend the President for naming Atty. Teodoro as the new SND. With Sec. Gibo’s extensive experience in leadership and legislation and expertise in legal and administrative aspects, I am confident that the defense and security of our nation are in good hands. I also commend Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. for providing the necessary leadership and steering DND in the right direction during his stint as Officer-In-Charge,” saad ni Tupas.
Ayon sa mambabatas, mahalaga na mayroon na ngayong full-fledged secretary ang DND lalo at maraming mahahalagang kasunduan at pagbabago na kailangan ipatupad.
Kabilang aniya dito ang bagong ‘chapter’ ng Mutual Defense Treaty at pangkabuuang relasyon sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at US.
Ang bagong kalihim din aniya ang mangunguna sa pagpapatupad ng Attrition Law sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na kalalagda lamang bilang batas gayundin ang isinusulong na reporma sa pension system ng military at uniformed personnel. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
