Inatasan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang Department of Agriculture (DA) at Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) na tugunan ang iligal, unreported, at unregulated fishing.
Ito ang kinumpirma ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil.
Ayon sa kalihim, ang mga tanggapang ito ay naatasan na gumawa ng komprehensibong pag-aaral sa rehabilitasyon at maintenance ng marine habitat ng bansa.

Ayon sa kalihim, binigyang diin ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang pangangailangan na makapag-comply ang Pilipinas sa international commitments nito, partikular sa European Union sa laban sa ilegal, unreported, at unregulated fishing (IUUF).

Kaugnay nito, inatasan ang DA at BFAR na direktang makipag-ugnayan sa Office of the Executive Secretary para sa pagbuo ng kinakailangang issuances.
“With this, the DA and the BFAR were directed to work closely with the Office of the Executive Secretary to craft the necessary issuances to implement Fisheries Administrative Order (FAO) No. 266, series of 2020, which requires commercial fishing vessels (CFVs) to install vessel monitoring systems (VMS).” — Secretary Garafil
Habang inatasan rin ang DA at BFAR, na aralin ang pagbuo sa Strategic Agriculture and Fisheries Development Zones (SAFDZ), para naman sa paglalaan ng area para sa sustainable fishing ng fishery stakeholders.
“To provide fishery stakeholders with an area for sustainable fishing and to review the licenses of CFVs that fail to comply with FAO No. 266, series of 2020.
