Dahil sa kulang isang buwan na lang bago ang deadline ng pagpaparehistro ng SIM Cards, muling nanawagan si Camarines Sur Repeesentative LRay Villafuerte sa mga lokal na pamahalaan na tulungan ang public telecommunication entities na mairehistro ang marami pang SIM cards sa salig sa SIM Registration Law.
Matatandaan na mula Abril ay pinalawig ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) ang pagpaparehistro ng SIM cards ng hanggang July 25.
Ayon kay Villafuerte, isa sa may akda ng batas, mahalaga ang suporta ng LGUs para maabot ang target na mairehistro ang hanggang 110 milyong SIM cards.
Partikular aniya na dapat matutukan ay ang mga Pilipino na walang access sa internet, persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, at mga nakatira sa malalayong lugar.
“LGU executives, especially those in remote or underserved areas, can best help PTEs do so by persuading their respective constituents to register, putting up or increasing the number of venues where people can sign up their SIMs online, and providing on-site list-up assistance in their respective localities during these four remaining registration weeks. We have to avoid shutting out legit holders of still-unregistered SIMs from digital and financial inclusion as their SIMs will have been automatically deactivated by July 25,” saad ni Villafuerte.
