Maya-5 at Maya-6 CubeSats ng Pilipinas, inilunsad sa int’l space station

Inanunsyo ng Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) ang matagumpay na launching ng pinakabagong locally developed cube satellites (CubeSats) na Maya-5 at Maya-6 sa International Space Station (ISS).

Ayon sa PhilSA, nailunsad ang dalawang CubeSats, kagabi bandang 11:47pm sa pamamagitan ng SpaceX Falcon 9.

May bigat na tig-1.15 kilograms ang bawat CubeSats na maglalakbay sa orbit na kahanay ng space station sa altitude na 400 kilometers.

Bahagi ito ng ika-28 commercial resupply mission ng SpaceX at inaasahang makatutulong para sa pananaliksik ng bansa sa kalawakan.

Nabatid na ang dalawang CubeSats ay binuo sa ilalim ng Space Technology and Applications Mastery, Innovation & Advancement o STAMINA4Space Program sa tulong ng Department of Science and Technology, UP Diliman, PhilSA, at Kyushu Institute of Technology of Japan.

Ito rin ang second set ng Philippine University-built CubeSats na binuo ng walong scholars mula sa UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute nanosatellite engineering track kabilang sina Anna Ruth Alvarez, Joseph Jonathan Co, Ronald Collamar, Angela Clarisse Chua, Chandler Timm Doloriel, Khazmir Camille Valerie Macaraeg, Genesis Remocaldo, at Gio Asher Tagabi.  | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
