Ipinapanukala ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez na bawasan ang oras ng pagtuturo ng mga guro sa pampublikong paaralan.

Sa ilalim ng kaniyang House bill 7822, mula walong oras na class time ay ibababa ito sa anim na oras na lamang.

Nilalayon ani Rodriguez ng kaniyang panukala na isulong ang kapakanan ng mga guro at mapataas naman ang kalidad ng basic education sa bansa.

Kung babawasan kasi aniya ang class hours ay maitutuon naman ng mga guro sa paghahanda ng lesson plan, instructional materials at interaksyon sa mga estudyante sa co-curricular activities ang nalalabi nilang oras.

Bukod pa ito sa mapagtutuunan din aniya nila ang iba pang gawain maaaring i-assign ng principal o superior.

“Their work site is not limited to the classroom. Teachers perform a regular eight-hour work shift just like any average laborer. Six hours of that shift may be spent in the lecture hall, and two hours are spent in lesson-plan preparation, lecture planning, and student-parent consultations,” saad ni Rodriguez.

Umaasa naman ang kinatawan na makakakuha ito ng suporta mula kay DepEd Secretary at Vice President Sara Duterte lalo na at marami na rin aniya itong ipinatupad na reporma at inobasyon sa sektor ng edukasyon.

“We commend the outstanding innovative programs implemented by Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte in her first year in office. She has always been a true advocate of quality education for learners and in promoting the overall welfare of the teachers. We are confident that we have her support on this measure,” dagdag ng mambabatas.
