Pagsuot ng facemask, ipinayo ng NDRRMC sa mga residenteng malapit sa Taal

Pinayuhan ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) ang mga residenteng malapit sa bulkang Taal na umiwas muna sa mga outdoor activities at magsuot ng face mask.

Ayon kay Civil Defense Administrator at NDRRMC Executive Director, Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, layon nitong maprotektahan ang mga residente laban sa volcanic smog o vog.

Ang volcanic smog o vog ay maliliit na droplets sa hangin na binubuo ng volcanic gas tulad ng sulfur dioxide na maaaring magdulot ng iritasyon sa mata, lalamunan at respiratory tract.

Ayon kay Nepomuceno, partikular na nakakasama ito sa mga mayroong asthma, lung disease at heart disease, gayundin sa mga nakatatanda, buntis at bata.

Sa ngayon, inatasan na ni Nepomuceno ang mga Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office at kanilang regional civil defense offices na maghanda sa anumang posibilidad saka-sakaling lumala ang pag-aalburoto ng mga bulkan.
