Panukalang pagbabago sa MVUC rates, nakatakdang talakayin sa Kamara sa pagbabalik sesyon

Sa pagbabalik sesyon ng Kongreso ay tatalakayin ng Ways and Means Committee ng Kamara ang pagtataas sa motor vehicle user’s charges (MVUC).

Ayon kay Albay Rep. Joey Salceda, chair ng komite, mayroon nang apat na panukala para i-update ang MVUC upang madagdagan ang pondo pampagawa ng kalsada.

Uunahin aniya ng komite na dinggin ito kaysa sa pagtalakay sa pagtataas ng buwis sa junk food at sweetened beverages.

Sa kasalukuyan, nakakakolekta ang gobyerno ng ₱18 billion kada taon na MVUC.

Mas mababa aniya ito kumpara sa ₱300 billion na gastos ng pamahalaan para sa road construction at repair.

Isa naman sa tinitingnan ng mambabatas ay i-exempt sa MVUC ang mga motorsiklo at tricycle na nagagamit na rin ngayon bilang pangkabuhayan.

Inaaral din aniya nila ang paglalaan ng bahagi ng kita ng MVUC para sa local jeepney manufacturers sa gitna na rin ng jeepney modernization program. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
