Dumepensa ang Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) sa kanilang planong gumawa ng online app-based betting system sa lotto.
Sa naging pagdinig ng House Committee on Games and Amusements, ilang mambabatas at stakeholders ang tumutol dahil sa banta nito sa mga kabataan na maaaring mahumaling sa online lotto.
Salig ito sa House Resolution 4825 na inihain ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez na nais ipagbawal ang online betting para sa lotto at iba pang instant paper games.
“Now, they are going to implement this online betting and all the children of my city can now bet, and Mr. Chairman, that will really lead to very adverse consequences. Instead of their baon going to school, they are going to bet it.” ani Rodriguez.
Tugon naman ni ni Atty. Maria Katrina Contacto, Executive Assistant ng Office of the General Manager ng PCSO, makatitiyak ang publiko na lalagyan nila ito ng mahigpit na safeguards oras na maikasa.
Inilatag ng PCSO ang digitization process sa lotto para mapadali ang betting process at mapataaas ang revenue ng ahensya na siyang gagamitin namang pantulong sa taumbayan.
