Posibleng mass layoff ng Grab, ikinabahala ng isang mambabatas

Nababahala si Manila 2nd District Representative Rolando Valeriano sa nakaambang mass layoff ng Grab sa mga empleyado nito sa Pilipinas.

Ayon sa Metro Manila Development Committee Chair, nakatanggap siya ng impormasyon na plano ng Grab Singapore na magtanggal ng may 1,000 employees nito sa mga bansa kung saan ito mayroong operasyon.

Ani Valeriano, tila taliwas ito sa naunang anunsyo ng kompanya matapos ang pulong kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. noong Pebrero na intensyon nilang makalikha ng dagdag na mga trabaho sa Pilipinas.

Katunayan, sumulat pa aniya ang Grab sa Kongreso at Department of Transportation ng kanilang commitment upang magbigay ng trabaho sa maraming Pilipino.

Ipinaalala pa ni Valeriano na ang Grab ay mayroong hindi magandang reputasyon matapos na parusahan ng Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) dahil sa pagkabigo na sundin ang direktiba nito na mag-refund sa kanilang mga kustomer.

“The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) had penalized Grab for a couple of times already. Our Congressional Committee is already looking into other possible errors Grab may have committed in price-surging as sole TNVS player, as well as in acquiring Move It, a motorcycle taxi fleet,” ani Valeriano.
