Aminado si House Secretary General Reginald Velasco na mapupuno ang plenaryo ng House of Representatives sa darating na ikalawang State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa July 24.
Ayon sa mambabatas, dahil na rin sa kasikatan ni PBBM at ng dalawang lider ng kapulungan na sina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri at House Speaker Martin Romualdez, ay marami ang nagpahayag ng interes na dumalo sa SONA.
Ilan sa mga ito ay mula sa business sector at maging mga dating kongresista na nais din bitbitin ang kani-kanilang local leaders.
Maliban dito, halos balik normal na rin aniya ang sitwasyon matapos ang dalawang taong paghihigpit dahil sa COVID-19.
Sa kasalukuyan, may seating capacity ang House plenary na 1,700 hanggang 2,000 at posible na higit pa rito ang dadalo.
“…We expect more guests than the previous SONA. Not only because of the interest of the people, but we’re back to normal. Then we have a very popular President, very popular Speaker and Senate President. So most of our traditional guests would like to come, and others…we have received requests from all sectors: business, Cabinet departments, even former congressmen. They all want to attend and they want to bring their mayors and governors. So we expect a bigger crowd than last year,” ani Sec. Gen. Velasco.
Una nang sinabi ng opisyal na pinahintulutan ni Speaker Romualdez ang paggamit ng ilan sa kwarto sa Kamara bilang overflow rooms para sa mga bisita.
