Dagdag na specialty centers sa buong bansa, napapanahon

Binigyang diin ni Anakalusugan Party-list Representative Ray Florence Reyes ang kahalagahan na magkaroon ng dagdag pang specialized centers sa mga probinsya.

Ito ay bunsod na rin ng isang pag-aaral kung saan lumalabas na ang Pilipinas ang may pinakamababang screening rate para sa breast at cervical cancer.

Aniya, malaking tulong na mailapit ang specialty health facilities sa mga pasyente upang makabawas sa kanilang gastusin.

“Marami sa ating mga kababayan sa probinsya ang walang access sa specialized medical services sa mga sakit na gaya ng cancer. We need to make these accessible to people in the provinces and unburden them from the unnecessary travel and other expenses in order for them to avail of these much-needed services,” ani Reyes.

Tinukoy din nito ang pag-aaral ng Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) kung saan 540,000 mula sa 54 million na kababaihan ang sumasailalim sa cancer screening, o katumbas lamang ng isang porsyento.

Malayo sa mga kalapit bansa natin sa ASEAN.

“Naungusan na tayo ng mga kapitbahay natin sa ASEAN gaya ng Cambodia at Myanmar na may mas mataas na cancer screening rate. Ang nakakalungkot pa, sa Malaysia at Thailand, umabot na sa 20 percent ang kanilang screening rate,” dagdag ng kinatawan.

Punto pa ng mambabatas na mahalagang matugunan ang mababang cancer screening dahil kadalasan, nagpapa check-up lamang ang mga pasyente kapag nasa late stages na ng sakit.
