DOH, muling kinalampag na bayaran na ang COVID-19 allowances ng mga healthcare worker

Nagpaalala si Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte sa Department of Health na bayaran na ang mga healthcare worker na hindi pa natatanggap ang kanilang COVID-19 allowances.

Ang pahayag ng mambabatas ay kasunod ng pagtiyak ni Pang. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa kaniyang SONA na matatanggap na ng mga healthcare worker sa pribado at pampublikong ospital ang kanilang emergency allowances.

Umaasa si Villafuerte na tutuparin ni Health Sec. Ted Herbosa ang una nitong pangako na babayaran ang mga HCW sa kanilang serbisyo sa kasagsagan ng COVID-19.

Aniya, hindi dapat makalimutan at maisantabi ang pagbibigay ng benepisyo at kabayaran na dapat matanggap ng mga HCW dahil lang sa inalis na ang state of public health emergency.

“…I had initial apprehension that this official declaration that the coronavirus pandemic is over in the Philippines might give rise to the DOH putting on cold storage Secretary Ted (Herbosa)’s promise during his first day in office last June 7 to give top priority to fast-tracking the release of still-unpaid Covid-related emergency allowances to our medical frontliners in both government and private hospitals,”

Ayon sa United Private Hospital Unions of the Philippines (UPHUP) mayroong pang P1.84 billion unpaid benefits ang nasa 20,304 HCWs.

Kabilang dito ang Covid-19 allowance (OCA) na nagkakahalaga ng P985.6 million; P737.5 million health emergency allowance (HEA); special risk allowance (SRA) na nasa 16.8 million; at meals, accommodation and transportation (MAT) benefits na P6.7 million.
