Pinuri ni Bagong Henerasyon Party-list Representative Bernadette Herrera ang aniya’y masinop at patas na ebalwasyon ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) sa pelikulang ‘Barbie’.
Kung matatandaan, ipinanawagan ang pagpapahinto sa pagpapalabas sa naturang pelikula dahil sa pagpapakita ng nine-dash line ng China sa West Philippine Sea.
Aniya, naging responsable ang MTRCB sa paggamit ng kapangyarihang ipinagkaloob dito pagdating sa regulasyon ng mga palabas sa telebisyon at sinehan.
Dagdag pa ng mambabatas na dapat ay last resort na ng ahensya ang pag-ban o pagbabawal sa pagpapalabas ng mga pelikula o programa sa telebisyon.
“I laud the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, led by Chairperson Lala Sotto, on its circumspect and contextual evaluation of the film ‘Barbie’ on the alleged nine-dash line map shown in the movie. The power to ban any movie, I believe, should be wielded sparingly and as a last resort among the many powers and tools at the disposal of the MTRCB.
