Nakakuha ng commitment si Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman at House Committee on Appropriations mula mismo kay Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga na ipagbibigay alam sa Kamara ang lawak na panghihimasok ng China sa West Philippine Sea.
Sa naging interpelasyon ng kinatawan sa budget deliberation ng DENR, hiningi ni Lagman mula sa National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), ang datos patungkol sa mga lugar na iligal na inokupa at tinatayuan ng istruktura ng China.
Ngunit humingi ng executive session si Yulo dahil sa national security.
“If I may recommend that we have an executive session regarding this topic in order to actually address the question.” ani Yulo.
Kalaunan, sa payo ng kinatawan mula sa Task Force West Philippine Sea, sinabi ni Yulo na magbibigay sila ng kopya ng datos ng ‘illegally occupied areas’ oras na makakuha ng clearance sa National Security Council.
Diin ni Lagman, batid na ng international community at publiko ang iligal na panghihimasok ng China kaya’t mas lalong may karapatan ang mga Pilipino na malaman ito.
“It is of international and public knowledge that China has unlawfully grabbed Philippine properties in the WPS. Filipinos are entitled to know the extent of the rapacity of China. The magnitude of China’s incursions must not be shrouded in ineptitude and secrecy,” sabi ni Lagman sa hiwalay na pahayag. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
