‘Heightened alert status’, idineklara ng Philippine Coast Guard

Itinaas ng Philippine Coast Guard sa ‘heightened alert status’ ang lahat ng coast guard district stations at sub-stations sa bansa.

Ito ay base na rin sa kautusan ni PCG commandant CG Admiral Artemio Abu dahil sa ‘Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Balik-Eskwela 2023’ ng Department of Transportation.

Ito ay simula ngayong araw, ika-22 ng Agosto 2023, hanggang ika-01 ng Setyembre 2023,

Ayon sa Komandante, ito ay para masiguro ang kaligtasan at seguridad ng mga pasahero, gayundin ang maayos, komportable, at matiwasay na biyahe sa mga pantalan.

Katuwang ang Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) at Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), sinisiguro ng PCG na maibibigay ang pangangailangan ng mga mananakay sa pamamagitan ng “DOTr Malasakit Help Desk” na matatagpuan sa mga port passenger terminal.

Binabantayan ng PCG ang pagdagsa ng mga pasahero at operasyon ng mga sasakyang pandagat, habang mas mahigpit naman ang pag-i-inspeksyon ng mga Coast Guard Sea Marshall sa mga pampasaherong barko.

Asahan din ang karagdagang deployment ng mga Coast Guard K9 unit sa malalawak na pantalan upang maiwasan ang anumang iligal na aktibidad na mag-ko-kompriso sa seguridad ng mga pasahero. | ulat ni Lorenz Tanjoco
