Magiging abala si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., sa pakikibahagi sa ika-43 ASEAN Summit na gaganapin sa Jakarta, Indonesia, sa September 5 hanggang 7, 2023.
Sa pre-departure briefing sa Malacañang, sinabi ni Foreign Affairs Asec. Daniel Espiritu na nasa 13 ang pulong na ito, kasama ang matataas na lider na kasapi ng ASEAN.
Kabilang ang ASEAN Plus Three Summit, opening ceremony at ika-43 Plenary Session ng ASEAN.
Dadalo rin ang pangulo sa Free Trade session, at ang magkakahiwalay na ASEAN Summit kasama ang mga lider ng Japan, China, Canada, Australia, maging ang United Nations.
“The President will continue to promote a rules-based international order including the 92 UNCLOS especially in the South China Sea. The Philippines will continue to uphold and exercise freedom of navigation and overflight to the South China Sea in accordance with international law.” — Asec Espiritu.
Sa mga pulong na ito, isusulong ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang interes ng mga Pilipino.
“There are 50 deliverables but iyong pinaka-important — let’s focus on the ones that are most important to the Philippines. So we’ll be focusing on food security and energy security, of course post-pandemic transformation and then the digital economy and e-commerce and the create industries, MSMEs and of course, protection of migrant workers.” — Asec Espiritu.
Ilan sa mga kumpirmadong kalihim na makakasama ng pangulo sa Indonesia ay sina DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, na namumuno sa sociocultural pillar ng ASEAN sa Pilipinas.
Kasama rin si Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo at DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual.
Bukod sa mga kalihim, magkakaroon rin ng business delegation ang pangulo, sa pagtungo nito sa Indonesia.
