Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa Bureau of Customs (BOC) na palakasin pa ang ginagawang raid sa mga bodega na hinihinalang nagtatago ng bigas o nagpupuslit nito papasok sa bansa.
Sa press briefing sa Malacañang, matapos ang sectoral meeting ngayong umaga (August 29), sinabi ni Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio na pinasisiguro ng pangulo na mananagot ang mga smuggler at hoarder ng produktong pang-agrikultura.
Dahil dito, asahan na aniya ang mas marami pang raid na isasagawa ng BOC.
“As per the directive po ng ating Pangulo, we will be conducting more inspections of these warehouses, and the inspection and visitation will be coordinated with other agencies like the DA and DTI po.” — Comm. Rubio.
Ayon sa opisyal, sa kanilang pinakahuling operasyon, nasa tatlong warehouse ang nahainan nila ng letter of authority, at binibigyan ng 15 araw upang i-presenta ang mga hinihinging dokumento ng pamahalaan.
“The sacks of rice respectively found in the subject warehouses were imported from Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with an initial estimated aggregate value of Php 505 million, 25,000 estimated sacks of rice were found at Great Harvest Rice Mill; 167,000 estimated sacks of rice found at San Pedro warehouse; and 10,000 estimated sacks of rice found at FS Rice Mill warehouse.” — Comm.
