Pinuri ng Power Bloc sa Kamara ang desisyon ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) na bawiin ang 2011 order nito na nagpapahintulot sa National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) na ipasa ang kanilang annual 3% franchise tax sa mga consumer.
Ayon kina PHILRECA Party-list Representative Presley De Jesus at APEC Party-list Representative Sergio Dagooc, malaking tulong ito sa mga customer na makaligtas mula sa hindi patas na charges o singil sa kanila.
Diin ng mga mambabatas ang NGCP ang dapat nagbabayad sa kanilang franchise tax at hindi ito dapat pinapasalo sa mga consumer.
Muli namang nanindigan sina De Jesus at Dagooc na dapat na ring repasuhin ang multiple taxation sa energy sector gaya ng VAT at iba’t ibang charges.
“Our consumers deserve transparency and fairness when it comes to their electricity bills. The suspension of the passing on of NGCP’s franchise tax will save the consumers billions of pesos that would have otherwise been unfairly charged to them,” sabi ni De Jesus.
Kasabay nito humirit ang Power Bloc solons na i-refund ng NGCP ang sobrang siningil sa mga customer mula sa 3% franchise tax at 12% VAT. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
