Panukalang mabigyang proteksyon ang mga manggagawa sa BPO industry, isinusulong ni Sen. Lito Lapid

Panahon na para bigyang proteksyon ang karapatan at kapakanan ng mga manggagawa sa Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry ng Pilipinas.

Ito ang iginiit ni Senador Lito Lapid kasabay ng pagsusulong ng Senate Bill 2235.

Sa kanyang panukala, ipinunto ni Lapid ang patuloy na lumalawak at paglago ng BPO industry sa nakalipas na dalawang dekada.

Kaya naman sa panukala ng senador, nais nitong magkaroon ng makataong pagtrato gayundin ang pagtiyak na may sapat na mga benepisyo, prebilehiyo at maaliwalas na working conditions sa BPO companies.

Bukod dito, mahigpit din na ipagbabawal ang “understaffing” o “overloading”, isusulong ang “regularization” ng BPO workers, at patatatagin ang karapatan nila sa “self-organization”,  lumahok sa “democratic exercises” at iba pa.

Sakaling ganap na maging batas, maaaring patawan ng parusa ang sinumang tao o kumpanya na lalabag sa mga probisyon nito, gaya ng pagbabayad ng P100,000 na multa o pagkabilanggo ng hindi bababa sa dalawang taon depende sa hatol ng korte. | ulat ni Nimfa Asuncion
