Ilang araw bago ang balik-eskwela, nagpaabot ng tulong ang Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization – Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH) sa munisipalidad ng San Benito sa Surigao del Norte para sa paaralan doon na matinding hinagupit ng Bagyong Odette noong Disyembre.
Personal na iniabot ni SEAMEO INNOTECH Center Director at former Education Secretary Leonor Briones kay San Benito Mayor Gina Menil at San Benito National High School Principal Reysan Tesiorna ang donasyon nito na kinabibilangan ng 20 computer units, 16 silya, 9 mobile cabinets, 7 office tables, 2 book shelves, at iba pang kagamitang pang-eskwela.
Labis naman ang pasasalamat ni Mayor Menil sa tulong ng INNOTECH lalo’t patuloy pa rin aniya silang bumabangon sa hagupit ng nagdaang kalamidad.
Ayon kay Dir Briones, mahalagang maalalayan ang mga eskwelahan sa bansa na nasa isolated areas lalo ngayong magbabalik eskwela na ang mga estudyante.
Hinikayat din nito ang mga business group at nasa pribadong sektor na mag-donate ng mga kagamitan sa mga eskwelahang nangangailangan.
“What began as a chance encounter at an event hosted by the Management Association of the Philippines led to the realization of much-needed support for Filipinos in far-flung areas across the archipelago.
