Whole-of-nation na pagtugon sa nagbabadyang krisis sa bigas, ipinanawgan ng Batangas solon

Binigyang diin ni Deputy Speaker at Batangas Representative Ralph Recto ang kahalagahan ng whole-of-nation approach sa nagbabadyang krisis sa bigas at trigo.

Ani Recto, kailangan paghandaan ng lahat ang nagbabadyang krisis na makakaapekto sa sikmura ng publiko.

“Ito ang suntok sa sikmura na dapat paghandaan nating lahat. These developments are the sound of empty pots clanging,” ani Recto.

Ilan sa banta na ito ani Recto ang planong export ban ng India sa non-basmati rice.

Ang India ang nagsusuplay ng 40% ng rice exports sa world market.

Hindi na rin aniya magiging madali ang pag-iimport ng bigas, dahil na rin sa magbabawas ng rice export volume ang Vietnam na isa sa pangunahin nating pinagkukunan ng imported na bigas.

Babawasan ng Vietnam ang rice exports kada taon hanggang sa maibaba ito sa 4 million tons pagsapit ng 2030.

Maliban pa aniya ito sa epekto ng bagyong Egay sa Norte na pinagmumulan ng palay at mais na isa ring rice substitute.

“Hindi na madaling umorder ng unli rice sa mundo. Ang binibitawan lang ng ibang bansa ay ang kanilang surplus production. Priority nila ang local demand. And this is where grains nationalism comes in. Kasi kung walang bigas sa mesa, mag-aalsa ang masa,” saad ng mambabatas.
