Desisyon ng suspensyon sa “It’s Showtime,” patas at dumaan sa due process— MTRCB

Nanindigan ang Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) na patas at dumaan sa due process ang desisyon nitong suspendihin ng 12 airing days ang TV program na “It’s Showtime.”

Sa isang pahayag, nilinaw ng MTRCB na isa itong quasi-judicial body na palaging pinaiiral ang patas na proseso pagdating sa paggampan ng mandato.

“In each adjudication proceeding, the Board ensures that respondents are accorded due process and exercise their right to a fair trial.”

Paliwanag nito, nabigyan ng sapat na oportunidad ang respondents na mailatag ang kanilang mga kaso at magsumite ng “position papers,” na kanilang isinalang sa masusing deliberasyon.

Dagdag pa ng MTRCB, naging ‘unanimous’ ang boto ng board sa suspensyon ng naturang programa habang nag-inhibit sa pagboto si Chairperson Lala Sotto.

“This decision was made with careful consideration of prior warnings and offenses associated with the show. Chairperson Lala Sotto inhibited from voting, ensuring that members of the Board exercised their independent judgment in determining the appropriate course of action.”

Muli namang ipinunto ng MTRCB na binibigyan pa nito ng pagkakataon ang respondents na maghain ng Motion for Reconsideration (MR) sa desisyon.
