DICT, ‘on track’ sa target na pagtatalaga ng libreng Wi-Fi areas sa iba’t ibang lugar sa bansa

Kumpiyansa ang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na maisasakatuparan ang target na 11,000 free Wi-Fi sites sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa

Ito ang tinuran ni Appropriation Vice-Chair Luis Campos Jr sa pagsalang ng DICT budget sa plenaryo.

Ayon kay Campos nasa halos walong libong Wi-Fi sites na ang naitayo ng ahensya na pawang nasa geographically disadvantaged and isolated area o GIDA.

Katunayan tinatarget aniya ng ahensya na maitaas sa 14,000 ang free Wi-Fi areas.

Huhugutin naman ang pampondo ng dagdag na Wi-Fi areas mula sa Spectrum Users’ Fund na nagkakahalaga ng P2.5 billion.

Pagtiyak pa ni Campos na mayroon pang P7.5 billion pesos na SUF na maaarign i-download sakaling maubos ang paunang P2.5 billion na halaga. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
